Cloudburst hits Copenhagen, Denmark

On July 2nd 2011 the area around Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen, experienced the worst cloudburst in 400 years and Falck helped a record number of people preventing and overcome water damages in and around their homes.
The cloudburst inundated Copenhagen with 6 inches of rain in less than three hours, flooding cellars, streets, and key roads.
The cloudburst also affected several municipal buildings and sports centres in the City of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.
At Copenhagen University Hospital and Hvidovre Hospital, managements at one point feared that both power supply and backup facilities would be destroyed. The two hospitals hold almost 1,400 patients, so that would obviously be a disaster.
The entire deluge caused DKK 6 billion ($1.04 billion) in damages.
